Here are some pictures of a project I did using gold leaf and hand drawn a custom design over it. My client wanted a scripture to be written at first in Hebrew. So I spent 4-5 hours doing research while creating the design specific to her ceiling size and fan design. I chose a leaf and vine design because her scripture was John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
Gold leafing can be seen as over the top in most homes so it is used sparingly or in this case I distressed the leaf. Distressing gold leaf allows the base color to show through and tarnishes the gold leaf. Painting the design over the leaf also helps calm the gold leafing down.
Here are some ideas where you can have gold leafing in your home: Ceiling design, accent designs on the wall, domes and ceilings, and woodwork and furniture. Distressed gold leafing goes great in traditional and contemporary styles. Do a search for gold leaf in our search option and you’ll find that I often use gold leaf in my designs.
