Our friends Jim and Kathryn Young leased their first commercial space and requested Faux Real to come in and change it from the previously leased salon space. There was a big benefit to leasing previous salon space but it needed a nice change. Kathryn wanted earth friendly green feel to the salon, something that would make her clients feel comfortable, relaxed, and leave energetic. The best choice was American Clay. Healthy Benefits
American Clay plaster are comprised of no VOCs(bad chemicals) so when it is finished you can move right into and live in the area where it has been applied. The other positives is it helps regulate humidity and temperature which will give the overall comfort level in your space a boost. We have seen a difference in rooms that are normally hot cooling the area from 3%-5%. Another benefit is it helps filter the area. If you have some strong odors in the room American Clay will benefit that area. I have revisited homes years later and can still smell the sweet fragrance. It gives you a calming feel and the smell is soothing. For those suffering with Asthma you can literally breath easy because its all natural.
Cost Benefits
The amount of labor and cost of material is a lot less compared to other plaster finishes. We can apply Enjarre(one of American Clays products) from $1.50 a sqft. for large jobs. This translates to just a fraction more than it would to have a hand texture and paint. In other words when you combine the regular texture, prime, and paint that is in the majority of homes in Texas it is just a small percentage more. We have special discounts for large complete home projects.
Durability and Longevity
The plaster with durability additives will last as long as the wall lasts- which is a long time. The colors will never fade and the it will look as nice as the first day applied years later. Touch-up is a breeze and is very easy for my clients to do themselves. The plaster is colored throughout so if there is ever any damage to the wall it will not show white.
Beauty and Flexibility
Our most popular application is skip troweled texture, but it can be smooth with no texture, light texture to heavy. For a more artistic finish we can mix colors for a gradient effect, stencil through patterns, lime wash the surface for antiquing, and can do striping. In whole house projects we suggest smooth to light texture.
